Waves: Sound & Light features repertory inspired by the sound, light, movement and energy of various cultures and geographic locations. The program was created in tandem with our arts integration program for Hartford Performs that teaches students the science of sound and light waves through integrative work.
Random XY (2016)
Random XY is set to the music of British composer David Heath takes the cacophony of sounds and rush of pedestrian traffic patterns to create a scene of lines juxtaposed with the lyrical dreaminess of wandering through Central Park and skating through Rockefeller Center
The Moon (2013)
A lively frolic combining choreography with shadow puppetry, based on the Grimms' Fairy Tale about the creation of the moon. Music composed for this original work by Cory Gabel with voice over by Michael McDermott. The moon lights up and the shadows come to life. Even zombies show up in this theatrical dance!
Too Close to the Sun (2013)
This piece is a duet based on the costumes designed by Gail Friesia and Inspired by Loie Fuller, a pioneer of modern dance and theatrical lighting techniques.
The Sun Shines... (2016)
A neighborhood dance party set to the music of Hartford's own Daniel Salazar. Sonia Plumb directed the seven dancers to create their own movement phrases.
Student Matinee Performances:

Student Matinees engage and inspire elementary/middle school students, and support a lifelong appreciation for the arts. This concert is part of our Arts Integration Programming from the Sound and Light curriculum that links Dance to Science. Featuring post-concert artist talk with Q&A.
General Audience Performance:
